German 2120: Clem Account and
ftp
The following is only for students who wish to put their Cyberreise into their own server folder!!!
I will place your completed online, unless you do wish to do this process!
I will also help you to do it, but you can also simply send me the .doc and I will do the rest!
A) About Computing at MSCD:

B) To activate your personal folder on the Clem server:

1. Login to your Clem account
Click on Start, then Click on Run
OR
Go to Programs, MS-DOS Prompt and
type: telnet clem.mscd.edu
2. Next you will need to configure your account to serve web documents.
At the % prompt type webaccess and hit enter
This statement sets the access rights so that others can view your
web pages.
C) To ftp files to your Clem Account:

1.Go to any MSCD Computer Lab. Login to a computer.
2. Double click on the Internet Access icon in the Program Manager.
3. Double click on the FTP icon in the Internet access window.
4. The session profile window will appear; make sure the profile and
host name are set to Clem.
5. Enter your user ID and password in the appropriate fields.
6. A new window will appear. From the left side of this window you
can access any of the drives on the PC (a:, c:,...etc). On the right
side is the remote system (Clem).
7. Open the necessary directories and select the files you want to
transfer. For example, if you would like to transfer something from
your disk called project.txt, you must make sure that the left side of
the window is accessing a: and the file project.txt is highlighted. (A
file will become highlighted when clicked on once.)
8. On the right side of the screen (the remote system) open the
directories where you would like the selected file to go.
9. If the file you are transferring is in ASCII format (*.txt file) be sure
to select the ASCII button at the bottom, otherwise use binary.
10. Click on the arrow in the middle which points to the destination of
the selected files. For example, if you are uploading something from
your disk to your clem account, click on the arrow pointing right. If
you wish to download something from your account to a floppy
disk, click on the arrow point right.
11.Your transfer is complete.
12. Exit FTP by double clicking on the box in the top left hand corner.
